(Brooklyn, NY) – Brooklyn heavyweight rap duo A-Alikes (NE$$ & K) release their new music video “Person Of Interest”. This is the group’s third music video from the EP Us Against Them, which is available at iTunes via Hard Boiled Records and Guerilla Nation. The project features appearances from M-1 of dead prez, Divine from The D.E.Y. and Raye 6.
The video for “Person Of Interest’” confronts controversial issues of police brutality and racial profiling of people of color by law enforcement agencies and biased individuals in society. The video focuses on young Black and Latino men who have fallen victim to Stop and Frisk laws and other systematic injustices by authority agencies and individuals in society based on appearance and not actual crime. The video is dedicated to Oscar Grant and Jordan Davis, young Black men who have been killed unjustly by police authorities without just cause or reason as well, Trayvon Martin, an unarmed young Black male who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman, a gun armed civilian who suspected Martin of being a criminal based on assumption and appearance and recently  the recent death of Staten Island resident Eric Garner, who died after NYPD officers and emergency workers placed him in an illegal chokehold during an arrest for allegedly selling untaxed cigarettes. The video directed by Solace of Buendia Productions

“Hip-hop duo A-Alikes get down to serious business in this ominous black and white clip for their latest single “They Watching.” The straight-no-chaser track, taken from the Dead Prez affiliates’ current EP Us Against Them, conjures up images of NSA spying and a world where privacy is a mere afterthought.” — Keith Murphy [youtube_sc url=”w8QAnVC4IJY” […]

After quite a bit of a hiatus, Out Da Box TV returns with a special episode featuring Revolutionary rap group the “A-Alikes”. Made up of emcee’s K and Ness, most are probably familiar with the group through the affiliation with their politically outspoken comrades “deadprez“. Fresh off the release of their new EP entitled “Us Against Them” the duo humbly spoke with us on a number of thought provoking topics that affect the working class, black, brown and poor in the world today. They spoke on the significance of their EP’s title “Us Against Them” in defining who represents “Us” and who represents “Them”. We also discussed the ongoing fight for the people to achieve justice and freedom despite the stopping and drifting from protest, when all the media hype dies down. We also spoke on the cycle of struggle that the working class has unfortunately continued to endure, the idea of working one’s entire life and having nothing to show for it after retirement, which is a theme that rings loud and clear in their EP’s lead single “Whole Life”. The A-Alikes also spoke about their RBG comrades “dead prez” and the musical influences the group had on them, as well as K(Karaam) and Ness’(Illuminessence) desire to eat healthier in this day of GMO affected foods and poor diet in the working class community. It was indeed a great pleasure to have such an meaningful conversation with the “A-Alikes”. Feel free to pick up their latest EP entitled “Us Against Them”, and share or post our exclusive interview with the group if you like what you see. For Immediate Release – (New York, NY – November 22, 2011) – A-Alikes release single “Bridges to Nowhere” off forthcoming album Us Against Them.

Known for their politically-rooted lyrics, Occupy Wall Street was the appropriate backdrop for the “Bridges to Nowhere” video shoot capturing the sign of the times and radical change for which the revolutionary-spirited hip-hop group is known.  “Bridges to Nowhere” was produced by the late DJ Metaphysic [June, 2011 passing], who also produced for such artists as Immortal Technique, Dead Prez and Action Bronson to name a few.

A-Alikes branched off into film after the release of their last album I Eat You Eat [2006] with “Ballot or the Bullet” documentary chronicling President Obama’s election [screened countrywide and abroad, 2008].  Ness, one half of the A-Alike duo, cites DJ Metaphysic as the catalyst for completing the album and further attests, “Us Against Them is about a world in transition… it’s about conflict, it’s about community, it’s about us and it’s about them.”

The video shot by Exile Ramirez, features Afaya (also featured on previous lp I Eat You Eat), as well as spoken word poet, J. IVY (featured on Kanye West’s first project) and  cameo appearance by Russell Simmons.

A-Alikes’ involvement in Occupy Wall Street was reported in Huffington Post article http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/14/occupy-the-hood-occupy-wall-street_n_1009850.html.

From music to the big screen, A-Alikes remain steadfast in their advocacy for political freedom and progression. Stay tuned for more videos by A-Alikes in coming weeks.

Us Against Them will be available on iTunes and A-Alikes.net the first quarter of 2012.
